Connor and Aly met in the summer of 2021 and quickly felt a connection. Connor was instantly drawn to Aly’s big heart and determination, while she was charmed by his sureness and quiet confidence. Their connection grew quickly, and they fell in love while navigating mid-distance—first from Capitol Hill to Northwest DC, and later between DC and Brooklyn—before finally making a home together. Now, they’re counting down the days until they become husband and wife surrounded by the people they love most!

Beyond his ministry, Samuel has been a steadfast friend, offering guidance, encouragement, and a calm presence through every season of life. I am honored to have him stand by my side as my best man, sharing in this joyous day with the same grace and devotion he brings to every aspect of his life.

My sister is the most loving, kind, and gentle person I know. She has a way of making people feel seen and cared for, and her loyalty to the people she loves is fierce and unwavering. Flying into the City

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)The closest and most convenient airport — just 10–15 minutes from downtown. DCA is accessible by Metro, rideshare, and taxi services. Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)Located about 35–45 minutes from the city. The Silver Line Metro connects Dulles directly to downtown DC. Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)Approximately one hour from DC and often a budget-friendly option. Train service and car service are available into the city. We recommend DCA for the easiest experience.

Traveling by Train

Traveling by rail is a comfortable and convenient option for many guests. Washington, DC is served by Amtrak, with arrivals at Washington Union Station.Union Station is centrally located in Capitol Hill and close to several lodging options. Rail service connects DC with major cities throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and portions of the Midwest.

Arriving by Car

Washington, DC is easily accessible by car from all major regions.Guests traveling from the South will typically take I-95 North through Virginia, which connects directly into downtown DC. From the North, I-95 South through Maryland provides convenient access into the city. Western routes may connect via I-270 or I-66 into central Washington.Major highways lead directly into the downtown and Capitol Hill areas.

      Getting Around the City

Washington, DC is a highly walkable city, and the Capitol Hill neighborhood where our wedding events will take place is especially easy to navigate.Public transportation is operated by the <a href="https://www.wmata.com/fares/how-to-pay/index.cfm" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority</a> (Metro), with convenient stations near Union Station and throughout the city. Uber, Lyft, and taxis are also widely available and typically provide quick transportation between neighborhoods.For guests who plan to drive around the city, we recommend downloading SpotHero and ParkMobile to easily locate and reserve parking throughout the city.

For guests who would prefer a vacation rental (Airbnb or Vrbo), Capitol Hill has plenty of options within walking distance of our venues. We recommend that that you book as soon as possible, as larger homes tend to fill quickly for spring weekends.

There is very little parking available at the church and Eastern Market. We highly encourage guests to take public transit or rideshare/cab to the church and then walk less than 15 minutes to Eastern Market.

Washington, DC is a city that Aly and I love and we’re excited to share a few of our favorite places with you. If you have some extra time before or after the wedding, here are a few spots around the city we think are worth checking out.

Places We Love

Located in the heart of Capitol Hill, Eastern Market is one of DC’s oldest public markets and a longtime gathering place for the neighborhood. We love stopping by on weekend mornings for a coffee and bagel, walking through the market, and perusing the local vendors along the surrounding streets. You’ll usually find farmers, artists, and small local businesses selling everything from fresh produce to handmade goods. The Eastern Market Metro stop is right nearby, making it easy to reach from other parts of the city.

The National Mall is a short Metro ride or drive from Capitol Hill and home to many of DC’s most recognizable landmarks. You can walk between the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and the U.S. Capitol, with the Smithsonian museums lining both sides of the Mall. We’ve spent many evenings walking along the Mall together, especially when the weather is nice and the monuments are lit up at night. The World War II Memorial is also where we shared our first kiss, which makes this area especially meaningful to us. If you have some free time during the weekend, it’s a nice place to take a walk, see a few monuments, and enjoy the views along the Reflecting Pool. Comfortable shoes recommended.

National Mall

The U.S. Capitol sits at the eastern end of the National Mall and is one of the most recognizable buildings in Washington. The grounds around the Capitol are beautiful to walk through, and it is a place we often pass by when spending time around Capitol Hill. If you would like to go inside, the Capitol Visitor Center offers free guided tours. Timed tickets can be reserved online through the Capitol Visitor Center or requested through your congressional office.

The U.S. Capitol

Located just steps from the U.S. Capitol and near the National Mall, the U.S. Botanic Garden is a peaceful place to walk through plants from around the world, with both indoor conservatories and outdoor gardens. It is one of our go to spots when friends and family visit DC. We like bringing people here for a relaxed walk through the different garden spaces. It is calm, beautiful, and an easy stop if you are already exploring the Capitol and National Mall area. Free Admission

United States Botanic Garden

Located just a short walk from the National Mall, the Museum of the Bible explores the history, influence, and narrative of the Bible through interactive exhibits and historical artifacts. The museum includes several floors of exhibits covering the history of the Bible, how it has been translated and preserved over time, and its impact on culture and society. Even if you only have an hour or two, it is an easy museum to explore and offers a different perspective than many of the traditional museums on the Mall.

Museum of the Bible

Located in the historic Old Patent Office Building in downtown DC, the National Portrait Gallery features portraits of Americans who have shaped the country’s history. The collection includes presidential portraits, artists, activists, writers, and cultural figures who have influenced the country over time. The building is also home to the Smithsonian American Art Museum, so you can explore both museums within the same space. Together they feature everything from classic portrait paintings to modern and contemporary American art. One of our favorite parts of the museum is the open courtyard in the center of the building. It is a bright indoor garden with a glass roof and seating, and it is a great place to relax for a bit while exploring the galleries. The museum is just a short walk from the Gallery Place–Chinatown station Metro stop, making it an easy place to visit while exploring downtown.

National Portrait Gallery

Dupont Underground is an art space located inside a series of historic streetcar tunnels beneath Dupont Circle. Originally built in the mid-1900s for trolley cars, the tunnels have been repurposed as a venue for rotating art exhibitions and creative installations.The space hosts contemporary art, light installations, and experimental exhibits by local and international artists. The underground setting gives it a very different atmosphere from traditional museums in DC.It sits directly beneath Dupont Circle and is just a short walk from the Dupont Circle station Metro stop. Access to the space depends on current exhibitions and scheduled openings.

Union Market is a vibrant food hall and shopping destination in Northeast DC, just a short walk from our venue at 1309 5th St NE. With dozens of artisan food stalls, craft shops, and seasonal events, it’s a great spot for a casual meal, local treats, or last-minute gifts. Union Market

Rock Creek Park is a large national park that runs through much of the city and offers a quiet break from the busier parts of DC. The park has miles of wooded trails, small bridges, and scenic paths along the creek. We like coming here when we want to get outside for a walk and feel a little removed from the city for a while. It is a great place to take a longer walk, go for a run, or spend some time in nature without leaving Washington.

Rock Creek Park

Georgetown is one of Washington’s oldest neighborhoods, known for its historic row houses, cobblestone streets, and lively waterfront along the Potomac River. The main streets around M Street and Wisconsin Avenue are filled with restaurants, cafés, and places to walk around and explore. Aly and I have gone on many dates here over the years, so it is a neighborhood that is special to us. It is a great place to spend an afternoon grabbing coffee, walking along the waterfront, or just wandering through the historic streets.
